LITERARY EVENTS

QUIZ:

If you are an ardent quizzer or an explorer of knowledge; if you find happiness in learning new facts and exploiting the same; this is for you. You get to battle out with like-minded; to get the crown of knowledge. 

RULES

• Rounds to be decided by deanery.

• Written prelims

• Time: 1 hour

Teams of 3 members can participate.

DEBATE:

To have a stand, you require courage. To convince others; you need to know how to articulate well. Do you have the convincing power; the power to get across your views??? Well; here is your stage!

RULES

• 4mins +1min rebuttal time.

• Points will be awarded for content, fluency, style and rebuttal 

• Topic will be announced a day earlier

Teams of 2 members can participate.

DUMB CHARADES:

Most of us find it hard; to convey messages through our words. How effective can you be when you can just act and not speak? Sounds interesting? The event is yours.

RULES

• No spelling, rhyming, splitting, etc.

• Preliminary rounds to be decided by the judges (E.g. People, Movies, Etc.)

Teams of 3 members can participate.

POTPOURRI

This is a fun event where you get to play with the words. A little bit of quick thinking and love for words will make sure that every moment in the event is worth.

RULES

• Consists of a mix of lit events like brain teasers, 20Q, Pictionary & what’s the good word.

• Written prelims

• Time: 1 hour

Teams of 3 members can participate.

JAM:

Sixty seconds, that’s all the time that you get to talk. What if there are people around you; who will be monitoring you every second, prepared to lash out for every word you falter. It’s an uphill task, but worth every second. Want to give it a try?

RULES

• JAM master decides rounds.

• 8-9 participants are panelists who bang on the table if an error is committed, list out the error and

speak if the JAM master agrees with the person. 

• +5 for correct correction, -5 for wrong correction, +10 for every 5 seconds the participant speaks. 

Additional points for getting the buzzer at the end of the minute. No participant is eliminated

during the course of JAM.

• Judged on clarity, content, presentation, relevance to the topic & language.

• Participants lose points on late start, early start, speech defect, grammatical error.

• Time: 2 hour

Individual participation 

EXTEMPORE

An eloquent orator creates music to ears with a flair for language and passion to reach out to the audience. The world stops and listens; when you take the centre stage. Who knows; you might be the next visionary of India.

RULES

• 2 + 1 mins per participant

• Topics given 5 minutes before event and participants prepare and present before the audience.

• Time: 1 hour

SHORT STORY/ ESSAY/POEM WRITING

Expressing what your mind holds is the bottom line of creativity. All those creative heads; bubbling with master pieces can have a go at this priceless opportunity.

RULES

• 4 topics will be announced

• Paper to be collected and returned back to the deanery event coordinator 

• Participants will be given code numbers instead of name and register numbers to be written on the 

sheet provided.

• Time: 2 hrs

ART EVENTS

RANGOLI

Art is exquisite; it is extraordinary. To be able to put a theme into design; a touch of magic is all you need.

RULES

• Themes will be given on the spot.

• Use of sieve is allowed.

• Geometrical instruments not allowed.

• The design size should not exceed 3 square feet in dimension

• Time: 1 hr

Teams of 3 members can participate.

WALL PAINTING

Colours are fun. It is all the more fun and special when many hands join together. What better way to have fun with paint!

RULES

• Theme: topic given on the spot 

• Vulgarity strictly prohibited

• Brushes and other materials have to be bought by the participants

• At the intra level the students will make a poster of dimension 2x2 chart papers.

• Time: 2 hrs

Teams of 7-10 members can participate.

PAINTING

Fingers can create beauty and sheer magic. Colours add to the uniqueness of each brilliant piece of art. Why do you wait; when you have the chance now?

RULES

• Theme will be given on the spot.

• Any kind of paints are allowed to be used.

• It has to be original work.


• Time: 1:30 hr

POT ART

It is not easy to make something extra ordinary out of ordinary. The wonders that art can create are many. Take this opportunity to create a wonder of your own.

RULES

• Theme will be given on the spot.

• Any type of paints, decoration material (beads, sequences etc) are allowed.

• Earthen pots need to be bought by the participants 

• Pot size: Maximum height of 1 foot.

• Time: 1: 30 hr
