Off to a Humble Start

Ice Breaker Session 21st Sptember, 2011
Blossoms, 2011 had a kick start event with an ice breaker session, wherein the 2nd year co-ordinators interacted with the 1st year volunteers. This event created a platform for all the volunteers to know each other better.
This session consisted of many exciting and fun-filled activities for every group formed, like;
Ø  Writing team members’ name and hobby in reverse order.
Ø  Acting a hobby and identifying the person
Ø  Forming new groups  having names of different cartoon characters
Ø  Playing Queen of Sheeba among newly formed groups
Ø  Performing various group tasks according to the game criteria and performance
Ø  Mapping  innovative ways to promote Blossoms in campus

The 2nd year co-ordinators who were involved in this event were:

Jitin Joe Simon            Mariya james    Merrin Tess Jimmy    Roy Tom                     Ann stephen

Ashish Agarwal     Jeffry Alexander                    Amit Kumar Das             Arun Anand

Sharis Mohammed    Minnu Raju       Elisa Theresa                           Veena

Satyendra Raj Gurung      Kripa Jacob      Poonam Chadha           Leon Chung

As per the schedule the 1st years turned up to 10th floor of Central Block at 3.00 PM.
The introduction was given by Joe.

Just after the introduction the volunteers were divided into various groups named as:
1.       Enchanted
2.       Rivals
3.       Zealous
4.       Elite
5.       Tornado

The groups were asked to perform the first activity i.e. submitting their names and hobbies within 15 minutes. The group to perform this activity last was given the task of telling a story.

They had to tell a story which involved the name of all the members in their group.
Next activity involved 2 of the group members in which 1 had to enact the hobby of another member and the 2nd person had to identify.
Who could not, had to perform a task, where 1 sang and the other danced

Then, the initial groups were re-shuffled by drawing of chits. The names of new groups formed were:
1.       Tweety
2.       Flintstones
3.       Tom and jerry
4.       Mickey mouse
5.       Popeye

Then after “Queen of Sheeba” was played, where Miss Kripa was the queen.

The various objects demanded by the queen were:
·         3 50p coins- 2 teams did come up with the  demand of the queen
·         2 50p coins and a 1000 rupee note- only one team were able to meet her demands. The other 2 teams were given the task of proposing Roy Tom

The girl did a real good job in proposing Roy

But still Roy was not happy L
·         Queen now demanded a glass- One member of each family was innovative enough to get the cup lying on water coolers,
Mickey Mouse family could not keep pace with other groups, so the audience decided a task for them which was “Girls singing and boys dancing”

The audience were not very happy with this performance and so they performed another i.e. “Sheela ki Jawani” J

After the entertaining dance,
·         Queen demanded 2 driving license of GIRLS- Families faced challenge for this task and somehow managed to perform this activity  except for Mickey Mouse Family who failed to meet the demand and had to perform an “Action Song”

The last activity for the day was; each family had to come up with creative ideas to promote BLOSSOMS.

Ending the session on a high note Blossoms CUIM team welcomed 1st years to CUIM Blossoms team.
Hope to see the same enthusiasm and energy always.

Special thanks to Father Thomas T.V, CUIM Director and Prof. Veda Balaji, Faculty Head; who encouraged the BLOSSOMS team to organize this event.
We also thank the acoustic team and photographers Thariq and Protyush.
