Seven Steps to do a Play (Proscenium)

1. Identify a story line for your play. It could be a famous story or it could be something that you or your friends have written.Remember, the storyline forms the meat of the play and if you have an interesting storyline or script it just makes your job much more easier to your actors.

2. Ensure your actors are committed and have a basic ability to act. Either actors are talented or are willing to work hard. Both work in the theatre.

3. While 'blocking' or fixing moves on stage for the actors, ensure you are using the stage very well. Use more parts of the stage as it adds to the visual appeal and kills the monotony which can otherwise very easily set in when actors are using only one part of the stage, unless it is part of a very deliberate deirectional design.

4. Use appropriate costumes and props and ensure that your  actors rehearse with props. Costumes and props long with suitable sets adds to visual appeal and helps the actor to stay in charater and also notch up good points for your team.

5. Voice projection is very important. Ensure that your actors are projecting their voices to the mikes which will ensure that your audience will hear evrything you say on stage.

6. Rehearsals are the only means to do a good performance. Don't postpone your best acting for the show date. Practise, practise and practise. Perseverance is the key to a good show.

7. If you have lots of properties or sets that need constant moving and shifting, you have to ensure that you have a good backstage team ready. Your backstage team like your actors, must be a dedicated unit, and prepared to practise a lot. On stage, evrything should move like clockwork.

Stage Delight

The Blossoms Stage event took a rocking start with the music and dance extravaganza put up by the students of CUIM.  From the soothing Indian melodies & electrifying acoustic music to the classical & contemporary dance moves; the stage event covered different genres of music & dance.

The students came forward in great numbers and the sheer energy, enthusiasm and excitement with which they participated was indeed amazing. The participants with their scintillating performances took the audiences into a different world. There was rhythm and melody in the air. Students from Kengeri Campus also participated.

The event was a great success and was marked by close competition.
Special Thanks to our Director Father Thomas T.V., Faculty Co-ordinators Prof. Anirban Ghatak and Prof. Vedha Balaji, with their presence and motivation the students were encouraged to be more enthusiastic.

Student Co-ordinators, Event Managers and Volunteers have ensured great success to the end of Art events.
The events are complete with the help of the University staff who have been diligent and worked hard, helping us to end the events on a high note.

Literary Convention

Yet another event for the intellectuals of CUIM took place on 10th November 2011, comprising of various brain teaser  events like Short story/Essay/Poetry Writing, Pot Pourri, Quiz, Extempore, Debate, Dumb Charade and Jam. These events brought out the scholars of CUIM and students came forward in great numbers and took part in all the events. Both the Main Campus and Kengeri Campus became a hub of ingenuity and creativity.

The topic for short story was a very interesting one i.e. “I was woken up by the sound of shattering glass.......”

The topic for Essay writing was really a challenging one i.e. “Damage to the environment is an inevitable consequence of worldwide improvement in the standard of living” and made the students think out of the box.
The topic for poetry was “Solitude” and this competition brought out the poets of CUIM.
Participants were judged on the basis of Narrative flow, Language and Clarity of thought in these events.
The extempore also consisted of some really thought provoking topics like Anna Hazare, India united and India divided, Indian politics as a career, Journey is more important than destination, Value of the Indian Rupee, Business Success and management education, and so on. These topics could ignite the inner thoughts of the students.

The topic for debate was “Borderless World-a dream of reality” and this topic could ignite the ingenious minds of the students of CUIM.

Other mind games like Pot Pourri, Jam, Quiz and Dumb Charades were also conducted which were filled with fun, excitement and intellect. Quiz and Dumb charades covered a long range of topics starting from politics to movies.

Ultimately, the entire literary event was a great accomplishment. Along with competing with each other every one got to learn new things and everyone enjoyed immensely.

Special Thanks to our Director Father Thomas T.V., Faculty Co-ordinators Prof. Anirban Ghatak and Prof. Vedha Balaji, whose presence and co-ordination could make the event a big success.
Kudos to the Student Co-coordinators, Event Managers and the Volunteers who ensured great success of all the events.
The events would not have been complete without the sincere help from the University staff who worked hard diligently, helping us to end the events on a high note.
